Engines Idling
As we’re now getting colder days, could parents parking in Kineton Green Road, Brookvale Road or Meadow Grove please remember not to sit with your engines idling.
Kineton Green schoolchildren crossing the road can’t hear the engines of moving cars over your stationary car’s engine, increasing the risk they will be run over and killed. Please do not sit in your car with your engine running.
The drivers could be fined as it’s against the ‘must not’ highway code Rule 123: Highway code Rules 103 – 158
The RAC go into more detail here: RAC Idling Emissions Advice
The Royal College of Physicians estimate 40,000 deaths a year in the UK are linked to air pollution Every breath we take lifelong impact air pollution, with engine idling contributing to this.
Idling increases the amount of exhaust fumes in the air. These fumes contain a number of harmful gasses including carbon dioxide, which is bad for the environment and contributes towards climate change, as well as a range of other harmful gasses including nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons which are linked to asthma and other lung diseases.
NEW ACCESS ARRANGEMENTS
COMMENCING MONDAY 9TH NOVEMBER 2020
Dear Parents,
We have made some changes to the start and end of the day to streamline our arrangements. Now that we have adjusted to the new staggered start and end times, we are shortening the gaps between each class.
See the below table for your child/children’s new start time.
Class | Start time | End time | Entrance/Exit |
FS1 | 8.55 | 11.55 | Olton Project gate |
FS2 | 8.40 | 3.10 | Vehicle access and the driveway |
Y1 | 8.40 | 3.10 | Pedestrian access and the path |
Y2 | 8.45 | 3.15 | Vehicle access and the driveway |
Y3 | 8.45 | 3.15 | Pedestrian access and the path |
Y4 | 8.50 | 3.20 | Vehicle access and the driveway |
Y5 | 8.50 | 3.20 | Pedestrian access and the path |
Y6 | 8.35 | 3.05 | Pedestrian access and the path |
We hope that this will help parents who previously had up to 40 minutes between their children starting school.
We are also trying to ease congestion along the pavement outside of school. To do this, we are asking children to walk down the path/drive as soon as the previous bubble have gone into school and queue at the barrier within the school grounds.
You can wait with your child if you wish to, or they can walk down on their own, as they have been doing. If you have a sibling waiting with you, it will be safe for them to wait with you as long as you ensure you are socially distancing. Please also remember to wear a face covering. Once you have dropped off your child, please leave promptly so the next bubble can enter and start lining up.
Children must be in their class line at the advertised start time. The importance of time-keeping will be vital to ensure the smooth running of the new arrangements. Please do not be late. Any child that is late will have to wait on the path at the top of the drive by the gates until a member of staff is able to provide safe access, to avoid mixing with other bubbles.
Year 1, Year 3, Year 5 and Year 6 – Children and parent/carers will need to walk through the pedestrian gate and line up, behind the orange barrier.
There are yellow feet painted on the floor to help adults to socially distance while lining up.
They will be collected by their teacher and then taken into school.
FS2 – Children and parents/carers will need to walk through the vehicle access gate and then line up from the gate nearest FS1, facing towards the road. They will be collected by their teacher and led through the blue gate into FS2.
Year 2 and Year 4 – Children and parents/carers will need to enter through the vehicle access gate and line up at the orange barrier.
They will be collected by their teacher and let into school.
At the end of the day, the reverse is true! Please wait in line at either the barrier on the pedestrian side or the vehicle side, as you were in the morning, at the time stipulated above. The children will be brought to you at the end of class.
If you are collecting more than one child, please collect the child with the earliest end time, walk back up the drive, maintaining social distance and then join the next queue at the designated pick up point.
We do insist that all visitors to site wear a face covering, at all times, unless exempt.
Thank you for your continued support in keeping our school community safe!
